Thunder in the Desert
Ed Hamill, in the Air Force Reserve biplane, flies over one of the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds at Luke Air Force Base, Ariz., March 21. Both the Thunderbirds and Mr. Hamill performed at "Thunder in the Desert," Luke's two-day open house and air show March 21 and 22. As the U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, the Thunderbirds perform precision aerial maneuvers demonstrating the capabilities of Air Force high performance aircraft to people throughout the world. Mr. Hamill is an Air Force Reserve lieutenant colonel who serves as an instructor pilot with the 944th Fighter Wing at Luke AFB. He performs at air shows around the country, highlighting the history of air show flying while promoting the Air Force Reserve. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Susan Stout)
