The Phoenix Chamber of Commerce held its Board of Directors Retreat somewhere a little out of the norm this year. The Board, hosted by the 944th Fighter Wing, held their meetings at the Club 56 on Luke Air Force Base January 22.

The unique venue offered a couple of events not typical at their retreats. The group was greet by Col Jeremy Sloane, 56th Fighter Wing Vice Commander and Col Robert Whitehouse, 944th Fighter Wing Vice Commander, and received a short briefing on the mission, manning and capabilities of both Wings. Col Whitehouse also highlighted the versatility of Air Force Reserve personnel in the job market.

After a day of meetings, the Board members were given a tour of the base and visited the 944th Aeromedical Staging Squadron and the 944th Civil Engineer Squadron explosive ordinance disposal for demonstrations and then visited the flightline to see an F-16 aircraft firsthand.

The guests were able to interact with military personnel and had the opportunity to see firsthand what the Airmen do daily by trying things like putting on a bomb suit and checking the vitals of a mannequin patient.
