944th revamps wing Web site Published March 27, 2006 By Staff Sgt. Susan Stout 944th Fighter Wing Public Affairs LUKE AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- The 944th Fighter Wing’s public Web site underwent many changes in the last two months. In an effort to maintain consistency throughout the Air Force’s public Web sites, the Air Force Reserve Command kick started a plan to become the first command in the Air Force to standardize their Web sites using the Air Force Public Information Management System. The switch over is part of the Air Force plan to consolidate all public Web sites under one server network and to provide a corporate look and feel for all Air Force public Web sites, according to Philip Rhodes, AFRC Public Affairs news division. “AFRC will be among the first to fully transition to Air Force Public Web,” Mr. Rhodes said. “(AFRC) has 43 sites to migrate. Our goal is to complete the transition by April 1.” Although some would say this is an ambitious goal, Mr. Rhodes said AFRC felt it was necessary to accelerate the transition rather than using the two-year window given to complete the transformation. “The Air Force Public Web is a tool that allows Public Affairs to totally control the look, feel and content of its Web sites without burdening the communications community for Web design expertise,” Mr. Rhodes said. “The real beauty of this system is that Public Affairs can update the Web from any location worldwide. All that is needed is a high-speed Internet connection.”
