The Safety Office continues to provide information to help keep the 944th Family safe at work and at home. Sometimes the families of our members feel they are not included in the 944th Family. Well you are, and this information is for you.

Did you know that you live in the Red Light Running capital of the U.S.? To avoid being a statistic, hesitate a moment when your light turns green and look for the other car trying to make their light. The other car may become a statistic, but not you.

Going to parties for the Holidays? Use a designated driver. A drink or two will slow your reflexes and you may end up being the other car trying to make that light. Sometimes just thinking of being a defensive driver could provide that critical second that prevents the screeching of tires and bending of metal.

We have all felt stress at one time or another. Children may feel stress from peer pressure, the need to excel academically or in sports, or the perceived stress their parents are feeling. I am a parent, not a doctor of child psychology, but I have found that when I talk with my children and try to have open communication with them, their attitudes improve and they seem to be more relaxed and in control of their lives.

Some of us can feel totally overwhelmed by stress. To prevent or minimize that overwhelmed feeling, requires you to take some action. For me, I find that talking to someone is an excellent way to de-stress. Exercise such as walking, hiking, biking and running also helps me to de-stress. There are other ways to de-stress and improve your outlook.

If you would like someone to talk to, I would recommend our Chaplains of the 944th.

Many members of the 944th are facing stressful times. So are their families. We need to try and help each other as part of the 944th Family.
