At approximately 11:00 p.m. last night two alleged car thieves ran through one of the installation gates here and were confronted immediately by 56th Security Forces Squadron patrols after entering the base. When the individuals attempted to drive through a road block on the Maj. Troy Gilbert Memorial Bridge and toward SFS personnel, a military member opened fire disabling the vehicle.

One of the alleged car thieves died of his injuries. The other was medically evacuated to a local hospital. The base is cooperating fully with the Glendale Police Department as they conduct the investigation.
