944th Aeromedical Staging Squadron Welcomes New Commander

The 944th Aeromedical Staging Squadron welcomed a new commander during a change of command ceremony here Dec. 4.

Colonel Curtiss B. Cook succeeded Colonel Judith P. Patton as commander of the 944th ASTS. Colonel Jose R. Monteagudo, 944th Fighter Wing commander, presided over the ceremony that included a military formation with members from the 944th ASTS.

"With every UTA, every exercise, and every inspection I am impressed by your commitment to the squadron. You set the bar high. I am very proud and honored to be your new commander," said Cook to the men and women of the 944th ASTS.

In 2006, Cook was selected as Chief, Hospital Services of the 944th ASTS, Luke Air Force Base, Ariz. As Chief of Hospital Services and a flight surgeon, Cook oversaw, directed and implemented medical services offered in a total force environment.

As commander of the 944th ASTS, Cook is responsible for a dynamic total force of trained airman to provide care, staging and movement of patients worldwide.

"I am thrilled to have Colonel Curtiss Cook succeed me," said Patton. "He is one of the most professional and capable leaders I know, and I feel privileged to have worked with him over the past two years."

"We have an exciting few months ahead. I know that whatever challenges come along, we will be able to adapt, innovate and overcome. ASTS - never falter, never fail," charged Cook.

Colonel Cook has a wide variety of medical expertise, including Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, and Aerospace Medicine.
