VFW Hosts Lunch for 944th ASTS

LUKE AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- Members of the Tracey P. McPhearson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 12043 hosted a Hail and Fair Well lunch for the 944th Aeromedical Staging Squadron on Saturday. VFW Post 12034 adopted the 944th ASTS in 2010 and supports the unit in many ways, including providing quarterly award winners plaques. When VFW Post members learned that Airmen from the 944th ASTS were preparing for a deployment to Germany, they offered to show their support and best wishes by hosting a lunch for their adopted Squadron.

Almost 600 military commands are actively supported by the VFW and its Ladies Auxiliary through the VFW Adopt-a-Unit program. The VFW Adopt-a-Unit's goal is to develop supportive relationships with units before, during and after deployments to help deliver the vast network of free resources the VFW has available for the military and their families; i.e., Operation Uplink, Unmet Needs and the Military Assistance Program.
