944th Fighter Wing commander visits A-10 group Published June 11, 2013 944th Fighter Wing Davis Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz. -- The 944th Fighter Wing commander visited one of his two geographically separated groups, the 924th Fighter Group, for the first time since taking command during the June unit training assembly. The purpose of Col. Kurt Gallegos' two day visit was twofold: to orient himself with the mission of the 924th and to get out and meet the Airman. During his visit Gallegos had the opportunity to learn about the mission of the unit and the challenges facing the growing unit. He also toured the maintenance and fighter squadrons and coined several deserving Airmen throughout the visit. Gallegos also hosted a commander's call and non-commissioned officer and senior non-commissioned officer induction ceremony. "We are here to support you in any way you need," said Gallegos during his commander's call. "We may be separated by a few miles but taking care of our Airmen is extremely important to the 944th and that's what we aim to achieve. Thanks for your dedication and all you do."
