Colonel ABEL RAMOS

Colonel Abel Ramos is the Deputy Commander of the 924th Fighter Group at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz. He is responsible for assisting the Commander in leading a 500+ personnel Unit Equipped Fighter Group in support of AFRC’s only hybrid classically and actively associated A-10C Formal Training Unit.

Col. Ramos is a 1997 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy. He attended Undergraduate Pilot Training at Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas and A-10A initial qualification training at Davis-Monthan Air Force, Base, Ariz. He served 11 years in the regular Air Force in multiple assignments in the A-10. Col Ramos joined the Air Force Reserves in 2008 as an Air Reserve Technician with the 303d Fighter Squadron, Whiteman Air Force Base, Mo. He joined the 924th Fighter Group in July 2016. Prior to his current position, Col Ramos was the Commander, 924th Operations Support Flight, and the Commander, 47th Fighter Squadron, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz.

Col. Ramos is a command pilot with over 3800 total hours, including more than 3600 hours in the A-10. He has flown over 420 combat hours in support of Operation SOUTHERN WATCH, Operation IRAQI FREEDOM, and Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
