Col. Thomas C. McNurlin is the Commander for the 944th Fighter Wing's 924th Fighter Group, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz. The 924thth Fighter Group is a Total Force Enterprise Classic Associate to the 355th Fighter Wing conducting A-10C Thunderbolt II qualification training and maintenance operations.

Colonel McNurlin has flown combat missions in the A-10 in support of operations Southern Watch and Enduring Freedom and was deployed to Djibouti, Djibouti as the Combined Joint Task Force Horn of Africa Joint Personnel Recovery Center Director. Additionally, as the Director of Operations for the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve Command Test Center, he oversaw test execution for all ARC MDS test programs, as well as the 9 assigned test F-16s, 3 test A-10s and 3 test F-15s.

Colonel McNurlin was a Distinguished Graduate from the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps prior to earning a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics from the University of Minnesota. He attended undergraduate pilot training at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, and is a graduate of the United States Air Force Weapons School. Most recently, Colonel McNurlin was the Deputy Commander of the 442d Operations Group, Whiteman Air Force Base, Mo., an Air Force Reserve A-10 Thunderbolt II unit, responsible for the manning, training and combat readiness of approximately 100 Air Force reservists.
